Positionality Statement

I am a first generation Mexican American woman and Californian native. I bring the lived experience of a Spanish-Speaking, immigrant, and low-income childhood. My identity as a bilingual Latina shapes my understanding of the systemic barriers faced by the LatinX community. Over the last ten years, I have worked as a licensed clinical social worker under multiple capacities and have dedicated my overall career to collaborating with LatinX individuals and families to navigate the challenges of mental health services. I recognize the importance of equitable, and inclusive mental health services for the LatinX population. My social work career is committed to advocating for the LatinX population’s access to quality care and resources. My passion lies in encouraging healing that honors the cultural intersections and experiences for the LatinX community.
